REDDING REPUBLICAN TOWN COMMITTEE MINUTES The meeting was called to order at 8:07 p.m. Attendance: Ward Mazzucco Guests: Hon. John Stripp Minutes The RTC approved the minutes of the September, October, and November, 2006 meetings. Election of Scott Palmer: The RTC unanimously voted to elect Scott Palmer to fill the RTC seat left vacant by the resignation of Virginia Connolly. Election of Justice of the Peace: The RTC unanimously voted to elect Tom Sullivan as a Justice of the Peace following the resignation of Natalie Ketcham. 2007 Meeting Schedule: Following motion by Tom Derderian and a second, the RTC unanimously adopted the Chairman's proposed meeting schedule for 2007. Comments by Easton RTC Chairman Hugh Barry: Mr. Barry discussed the reorganization of the Easton RTC and election strategy successfully employed by the Easton RTC. Ward Mazzucco had previously attended the Easton RTC meeting to discuss common issues faced by both committees. Registrar's Office: Elizabeth Furrer, who will be sworn in as registrar to commence her term in January, 2007, needs a deputy registrar. Ward Mazzucco asked that if anyone knew someone who is interested to contact either him or Liz Furrer. Report from First Selectman Natalie Ketcham: First Selectman Ketcham reported on the progress of the CL&P transmission line project, the Georgetown Redevelopment, and the need to establish a new contract with Bethel for the Danbury Hospital paramedic intercept service. The First Selectman was confident that changes to the service will eventually make the service self sustaining. Without these changes, the cost of the service could be much higher for the taxpayers of Redding. Campaign 2006 Contributions: Ward Mazzucco asked members who had not yet had a chance to contribute to the 2006 campaign to do so. He also reminded everyone that contributions for 2007 should be made before the January, 2007 meeting if possible. Election Results: The RTC discussed the results from the November election. Election 2007: The RTC discussed strategy for the municipal election in November, 2007. Report from State Representative John Stripp: Representative Stripp discussed the results of the recent election, the public financing of state races, and the new veto proof democrat majority in the Connecticut Legislature. Report from State Senator Judi Freedman: Senator Freedman discussed the election results and the dynamics of the state legislature. Next Meeting: The next meeting of the RTC will be on January 8, 2007 beginning at 8 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote at 9:42 p.m. at which time the member enjoyed the holiday party.
