REDDING REPUBLICAN TOWN COMMITTEE MINUTES
Treasurer's Report. Gary Miyashiro gave a Treasurer's Report. Gary reported that our bank balance is $3,005.45. Approximately 110 people attended the Pig Roast. A motion was made by Gerry Casiello, seconded by Don Stroetzel, to appoint Trevor Furrer and Michael Thompson to the Republican Town Committee. The motion passed unanimously. Gerry also reported that the Vacancy Committee was working to fill the last RTC vacancy and a recommendation will be made in the near future. Ward Mazzucco announced that Senator Freedman had surgery today and a card for the Senator was circulated. Ward also announced that the State Central Chairman had resigned. A replacement is being sought. One issue is whether the Chairman should be selected by the Governor or by the State Central members. Ward reminded members that RTC members that do not attend at least 50% of the meetings may be ineligible for the new RTC, to be elected at the January caucus. The Vacancy Committee will work to fill any additional vacancies resulting from this requirement. Ward recommended the following meeting schedule for 2006: January 2 February 6 March 6 April 3 May 1 June 5 July 10 August 7 September 11 October 16 November 13 December 4 On a motion by Julian Kien, seconded by Joan DeSalvo, these dates were approved. On a motion of Bill Morris, seconded by Stan Rhodes, it was decided that the caucus for the new RTC will be held either January 10 or 11. In the public notice, we will state, in the event of snow, the caucus will be held at Ward's house. Ward reported that Natalie Ketcham was in Washington receiving a Smart Growth award from the EPA for her work on the Georgetown redevelopment project. Don Takacs then provided an update of the Georgetown Land Development Project, and noted that construction is now projected to start in the spring. Ward suggested that Natalie be asked to bring the plan for the Georgetown Land Development site to the next meeting so that we can discuss this issue in more detail. Ward then distributed election results and a discussion of the election results ensued. Tom Derderian summarized the pluses and minuses of our Region 9 campaign effort and enumerated some of the ways we could have done better. A motion was made by Frank DeSalvo, seconded by David Lewson, to spend up to $200 on a Republican banner. Tom Derderian will research. The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 pm. Respectfully submitted,
