MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 8:02 PM by Ward J. Mazzucco, Chair. In the absence of the secretary, Burdin Hickok, the Chair served as acting secretary. In the absence of the treasurer, Gary Miyashiro, the treasurer's report was passed. Draft minutes of the August meeting have not yet been distributed, so that topic was also passed.

Andrea Cotton described her experience as a guest when she and Norma Riess attended the National Convention in August. The favorable article in the Pilot was also discussed.

Kendall Seal, from Congressman Shays' office, gave an update on his campaign. Bush and Shays signs were available for those who wish to post them.

The issue of phone banks was discussed. The consensus is that voters tend to dislike the intrusion, so none will be conducted this year. However, RTC members are encouraged to remind friends and neighbors to vote.

The Vacancy Committee recommended Tom Flagg to fill a position as Planning Commission Alternate. In light of his technical experience, the RTC voted unanimously to recommend him for that position.

The campaigns of Hank Bielawa, John Stripp, and Judi Freedman were also discussed. Linda and Bob Koch were recognized for hosting a very successful event for Judi Freedman at their new home.

We have identified a new web-site host, Brent Colley. He will finish adding content and will update the site as needed.

Arrangements for the Election Day tent ere discussed. Judge Emerson recommended that we join with the Democrats to rent tents at lower cost. His recommendation was accepted. A signup sheet for Election Day was circulated. Here is the list of volunteers:

  • 6:00 Parker and Charlie
  • 8:00 Linda and "Joan & Frank"
  • 10:00 Virginia and Gerry
  • 12:00 Natalie and Christine and maybe Andrea
  • 2:00 Don and Jackie
  • 4:00 Julie and don and Stan
  • 6:00 John and a volunteer yet to be identified……

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Ward J. Mazzucco, Acting Secretary
