5th Annual Republican Pig Roast October 18th (Redding, September 25) The fifth annual Redding Republicans Pig Roast will be held on Sunday, October 18th at 3PM at the Redding Boys & Girls Club. The event is sponsored by the Redding Republican Town Committee and, this year, will be held in honor of Art Poltrack, Region 9 School Board Member and past President of the Redding Boys & Girls Club. Ward Mazzucco, Chairman of the RTC, said, "The pig roast has become a wonderful fall tradition…an occasion to bring the town together for a fun time, meet many of our candidates for office, honor a person who's been of particular service to the town. Art Poltrack has served our community extraordinarily well, and we welcome all of Redding as well as those from other towns to attend and express their gratitude.." The meal will feature a succulent roast pig with all the fixin's as well as appetizers, salads and desert. There will be an open bar featuring beer, wine and soft drinks. Guests will also be welcome on the day of the event. Republicans 2009 Candidates (Redding, September 23) The Republican Town Committee has posted its slate of candidates for the 2009 elections. Republicans Recognize Taylor (Redding, March 6) In its March 2nd Meeting, the Republican Town Committee presented a special recognition award to Frank Taylor for his years of service to the Town of Redding as a member and Chairman of the Zoning Commission.Mr. Taylor, a longtime Redding resident, was a member of Redding's Zoning Commission for 30 years and served the last 20 of them as the Commission's Chairman before stepping down in the fall. In presenting the award, a brass wall clock mounted on a mahogany plaque, First Selectman Natalie Ketcham and RTC Chairman Ward Mazzucco jointly stated, “The Republican Town Committee is pleased to recognize Frank Taylor's 30 years of service to our town. As a member and Chairman of the Zoning Commission, he devoted countless hours to maintaining Redding's rural character and clean environment. Everyone in our community should be thankful for his efforts.” Upon receiving the award, Taylor said, "It is humbling to be recognized by your peers for doing a job that you sought out. I always felt that serving on the Zoning Commission was the best way I could serve the Town that I fell in love with when we first looked at a home in Redding in 1977. My focus on the Commission was to work to keep Redding the way we found it - quiet, rural and friendly." Mr. Taylor, who continues as an active member of the Redding Republican Town Committee, is a former IBM marketing executive and currently Partner in a Fairfield County based marketing agency. I knew nothing about running an election campaign, but we recruited my mother and her friends and sat in this dining room stuffing envelopes—and he won.” Learn More March 4, 2008: Republicans Elect Officers for New Term (Redding, March 4) In it's meeting on Monday evening, The Redding Republican Town Committee elected officers for the next two-year term. Ward Mazzucco, the current Chairman, was re-elected to that position for his third full term; Lewis Brey was re-elected Vice Chairman; Michael Thompson was re-elected Secretary; and Gary Miyashiro was re-elected Treasurer. Also announced in the meeting was the appointment of the following RTC Committee chairman: Tom Derderian, Publicity; Lewis Brey, Campaign; Scott Palmer, Events; Julie Gorman and Laura Hoeing, Vacancy. June 12, 2006: Redding Republican Town Committee Supports Adopt A Platoon Program The Redding Republican Town Committee is joining the Adopt A Platoon Program, which matches servicemen and women overseas with individuals and organizations back home. The program requests a commitment to write to the soldier once a week and to send one package a month. Learn More.
