1.4.2010 Redding Republicans endorse Dan Debicella for the 4th Congressional District race against Chris Dodd The Redding Republican Town Committee announced the endorsement of Dan Debicella as candidate for the 4th U.S. Congressional seat in the November, 2010 election. The endorsement was made by a Committee vote in their January 11th meeting.
Mr. Debicella is currently a second term State Senator from the 21st district, representing Shelton, Stratford, Monroe and Seymour. He holds the position of Deputy Minority Leader and serves as Ranking Senator in the legislature's Appropriations Committee, Public Health committee and Higher Education Committee. He is also a member of the Regulation Review Committee. A resident of Shelton, where he lives with his wife Alexandra, Dan graduated magna cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Finance. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in Boston, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He has led a successful business career, from management consulting, to running a small business, to working for a Fortune 500 company. He currently is Assistant Vice President of Marketing at The Hartford, where he markets property and casualty insurance to small businesses. Previously, Dan worked as Director of Strategy for Pepsi, where he developed long term plans for marketing, sales, and product innovation. He spent five years as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co., where he advised Fortune 500 companies on sales and marketing issues. During his first term in office, Dan authored or co-sponsored a number of laws that are improving the quality of life for Connecticut families, including job creation tax credits, funding for education and anti-dumping environmental legislation. In his second term, Dan is working to eliminate the state budget deficit without raising taxes, reform local property taxes, create jobs through economic development, and protect our environment. "I am grateful to the Redding RTC for their endorsement. Led by Natalie Ketcham, the Redding Republicans have always worked in a bipartisan way to make Redding the fantastic community it is," said Debicella. "That is the type of Congressman I hope to be-- working for real solutions for Redding families on issues like the economy, healthcare, and transportation." "I am running for Congress because we need real solutions for Redding families. Jim Himes has been representing a party, not your families. He has voted over 95% of the time with Nancy Pelosi, basically being a rubber-stamp for the massive expansion of government in the past year," said Debicella. "I will stand for controlled government spending, reforming healthcare by lowering costs rather than expanding government's role, and fixing our transportation issues in Fairfield County". RTC Chairman Ward Mazzucco added, “While we had a number of impressive candidates present themselves to the Committee over the past few months, Dan's qualifications stood out to us. He's shown an exemplary record during his two terms as State Senator, great business and academic credentials and the ability to put real energy into his campaign. He's a strong, independent thinker, much in the mold of our former 4th District U.S. Representative, Chris Shays.” Mr. Debicella was also recently endorsed by our own State Senator, Toni Boucher, R-26th district. |
